November 30, 2016:
Monday arrived and I went on a date with Lucas, the hot surfer looking guy from Sirius coffee shop. I’ve had a huge crush on him. He took me out to Kalapana to see the lava flow. First, he showed me a secret beach where I found so many beautiful looking shells. We cuddled for a bit, got splashed by water, then continued on our walking journey.
“Chasing the sunset to the lava flow,” he said.
We created our own path by deciding to hike the shoreline to see the lava. The journey was breathtaking! We had a few rest stops. I even fell into a puka at one point. There were moments of laughter, then moments of silent walking and meditation. I enjoyed the fluctuations.
We found so many different types of lava! We came across some wheats that were taller than us and I opened my arms and just fell onto my back and onto the ground, letting out a loud laugh. The laugh felt so authentic and free. I’m so grateful that when there is the undeniable space of love and truth that people naturally become open and vulnerable. Love is safe.
Lucas began to really open up. He just got out of a five-year relationship and apparently I’m the first person he hung out with. He told me how it felt nice to simply experience someone else. We talked a lot about relationships and growth in general.
We got to the main trail for the lava. There was a line of people taking pictures of the lava, but it was difficult to get a good view so we hopped under the rope and went closer. I love people that break the rules with me!
I put my sweater down on the lava rock, then we sat down close next to each other. We watched as the lava entered the water.
I said, “Damn dude! Nature is so intimate! Just the way that the hot lava slid into the water and began spewing out of the water, appeared like an orgasm!”
“They’re the perfect couple. I didn’t know the lava was going to be this romantic,” he said.
So, we stayed until the stars came out. We laid down and watched them glisten. Silence. Every time I look at the stars I am reminded of the truth. Problems are truly nonexistent. “Humans are interesting,” he said, “they create their own problems then they try to solve them. You create your own hill, then you sweat trying to climb it.”
We started walking back towards the car. There was a moment where I wanted to give up because my body was so sore, but as soon as I saw Pele, everything was worth it. I noticed the pain in my body dissipated. Altogether it was about a 20 mile hike because we had to walk all the way back to Uncle Roberts. When we were walking back to the main trail, I grabbed ahold of his hand.
He says, “Wow, I did not think I was going to leave here holding your hand tonight.”
So then, he drove me back to Cinderland. On the way we stopped in the middle of the road to lay down on the roof of his warm car to watch the stars. We saw a few shooting stars!
